California reporter charged with misdemeanor drunk driving

Anyone who is driving a vehicle must make sure that he or she follows all traffic laws. Failing to follow those laws can result in being pulled over by a police officer. In some cases, a simple traffic stop might end up with the person who was pulled over facing more serious charges. For one California reporter, being pulled over for failing to turn on his headlights while driving at night ended with him being charged with driving under the influence.

The incident happened at around 12:35 on the morning of March 20, 2014, when an officer noticed a 2011 Kia Soul that didn’t have its headlights on. The officer initiated a traffic stop, at which time he noted that he could smell alcoholic beverage odor on the 33-year-old driver’s breath. The officer conducted an investigation and determined that the driver was operating his vehicle under the influence. A blood sample was taken, but the results haven’t been released.
